Description

At Berger Törl, a traditional crossing between Mölltal and Kalser Tal, is Glorer Hütte, which is a popular destination for mountaineering enthusiasts, summer and winter alike.

The starting point for our ski tour is Lucknerhaus (1920 m) at the entrance of Ködnitztal. We get here via the Glocknerstraße in Kals, around 8 km from Kals. Large car park is available. The route signposts which suggest a time of three hours to Glorer Hütte seems to be somewhat overestimated. Initially the ski track follows a wide forest trail which passes an Alpine pasture and gains altitude in several hairpin bends. At 2200 m this proceeds into open terrain at a little area of hay bales and we head into the valley via moderately steep slopes. After a little peak views to the Glatzschneid open up. After a short section which crosses the slope, we head into some trough areas, before we follow the main track to the Hütte. Glorer Hütte, which is open at weekends, is a leisurely 20-30 minutes from the junction; a total of 2 – 2 ½ hours from the starting point. Descent along the ascent track.
