Winter holiday with the whole family

Slope king and snow queen

Families with children are particularly well catered for in Osttirol. The little ones look forward to the Kinderland kid’s world, practice their first turns in the ski kindergarten under expert instruction, while the older ones explore the rolling blue and red downhill slopes. Owing to the limited number of lifts and pistes, nobody will get lost. Apart from the child-friendly and certified slopes there are ski schools that feature alternative options in the snow: snowball fights, snowtubing or sledging are all part of it along with lunchtime childminding with a children’s menu. The local ski rentals provide perfect and safe equipment. In the meantime, parents can clock up the piste kilometres at their leisure or try out the regional delicacies at the chalets and relax in the sun, which shines particularly frequently here in Osttirol with over 2000 hours of sunshine per year.

Winter magic

You would like to explore the magic of the mountains at a gentle pace with the family? The Osttirol nature is made for this. With snowshoes, the Hohe Tauern National Park will become a nature experience for those who enjoy peace and quiet. Full-moon snowshoe tours are an absolute hit, together with a national park ranger. Accompanied by forest rangers and rangers, on winter hikes you follow indicated paths to observe animals such as snow grouses, foxes and alpine hares.

Sledging with the whole family is also unforgettable. On one of the more than 30 sledge runs – some of which are illuminated at night – speed and fun will become part of your winter experience. A horse-drawn sled ride is cosy and romantic, being chauffeured through the snowy Osttirol winter landscape. In this way, even the short days of winter are always filled with activities.

Ski mountains for kids

As a family, one is looking out especially for two things in advance: a great range of pistes and of course the costs. A criterion that the family ski region Osttirol can meet with a unique offer: apart from family-friendly accommodation, in all ski resorts as part of the Ski Hit Osttirol ski passes, children’s prices apply up to 18 years of age. This means over 150 kilometres of well-prepared pistes with assured snow that can be experienced at an affordable price also with young people due to this service.
