Tristach

Idyllic holiday destination near Lienz

Southeast of the Lienz city centre, wonderfully nestled between Drava and Rauchkofel, spreads the municipality of Tristach. Above all, the privileged location, the close proximity to Lienz and many excursion destinations, but also the impressive view onto the northern walls of the Laserz Group make Tristach a very special place in the Lienz valley floor. The proximity to the city and the urban flair can be combined in a special way with closeness to nature and idyll - here at the foot of the Rauchkofel you can experience pure holiday pleasures.

While the districts of Enderdorf, Oberdorf and Egarte have mostly retained their genuine village character, the district of Neudorf consists of numerous settler buildings and has become the most populous district of Tristach. The farms are mainly so-called “Paarhoefe” (paired farms), i.e. the house is separated from the feed house with stable. Tristach provides two beautiful hotels, several quaint inns, cosy guesthouses and numerous private landlords, all of which are of high quality.

Tristach

In addition to its floodlit toboggan runTristach owes its special status among the municipalities of Osttirol mainly to an idyllic natural gem. A few meters above the village centre, below steeply sloping cliffs, Lake Tristacher See is the only bathing lake in Osttirol. Throughout the year, the fantastic natural scenery along the almost 480-meter-long lake invites you to long walks.

During the summer months you will be tempted to swim a few laps in the cool waters surrounded by fragrant forests and lush meadows. In the cold season, nature is transformed into a romantic winter landscape and the lake turns into a big skating rink. If you prefer the mountains to the water, head for the Lienz Dolomites. The municipality provides three lodges, all fantastically located in the Lienz Dolomites. Among them, especially the well-known and popular Karlsbader Hütte at deep blue Lake Laserzsee stands out. Here, in this dreamlike scenery, you can take amazing pictures without much effort. The popular climbing area of the Lienz Dolomites, where beginners and experts alike can come across unforgettable mountain moments, extends over the alpine world around these huts. But no matter which lodge or which tour destination you set out for in Tristach, here in the alpine meadows and limestone cliffs of the Lienz Dolomites unique mountain experiences can be made everywhere. This dreamlike scenery will make you understand what alpine Tyrol really is about.
