At Wichtelpark Sillian, the little ones feel like big kids! Together with the mascot Willi Wichtel and his friends, there’s so much to discover here. It’s perfect for a day trip with the whole family—one that promises not only fun but, above all, lots of new knowledge.
Wichtelpark is located in the Hochpustertal in Osttirol, more specifically on the outskirts of Sillian near the forest. The popular Drauradweg runs right past it, offering active families a wonderful opportunity to get there without a car .
The easiest way to get to Wichtelpark is on foot from the Sillian train station, by bike along the Drauradweg, or by car via the B100 main road:
Wichtelpark is open from July through October, daily from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. It can also be visited in bad weather; only the high ropes course remains closed for safety reasons.
Wichtelpark offers many attractions that invite elf fans of all ages to explore hands-on. This makes the park perfect for a day trip with the whole family:
The interactive fairy-tale trail winds through the forest, passing by the gnome village with its lovingly designed gnome houses, farm, train station, fire station, mine, town hall, school, and chapel. Here, children can playfully live, “work,” and celebrate like the gnomes to fully immerse themselves in their world.
There’s something to do and discover everywhere—trying out animal sounds, playing with water, influencing the weather, exploring dark tunnels, and more. The stations share interesting facts about the forest and playfully teach values such as teamwork, creativity, and respect for nature.
The “Wichtelexpress” scenic train takes everyone who is at the Familiennest program from the their lodging to the various activity locations. While there aren’t any elves at the controls, the two Family Nest counselors, Norbert and Engelbert, are there instead—they know the park inside and out and are happy to offer tips on what you definitely shouldn’t miss here. The two train cars can accommodate about 50 people.

A huge adventure playground with log cabins, a double-tower structure, a bouncy castle, family swings, and a tube slide (which, by the way, at about 30 meters is Austria’s longest hillside slide) awaits young and older explorers alike.
For the adventurous, there are 8 courses with varying levels of difficulty, some of which reach lofty heights (1.5 to 8 m). Courage and skill are essential, as 65 elementsand stations —including 12 zip lines —spanning a total length of 850 m require climbing, balancing, sliding, and maneuvering across a wide variety of rope and bridge structures.
After receiving your equipment, a detailed orientation, and completing a trial course, you can explore the high ropes course on your own. It is accessible to children ages 3 and up (Kids’ Course), or those at least 110 cm tall (Intermediate Course), and at least 140 cm tall for the Advanced Course. Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Important: You must followthe instructions of the park staff at all times. Before entering the high ropes course, you must read, complete, and sign the terms and conditions. It takes approximately 45–60 minutes to complete the red course. Use is limited to 120 minutes.
Set amid an idyllic park, the 17-hole course invites the whole family to put their skill and precision to the test. Ideal for a relaxing day in nature, the mini-golf course is a popular gathering spot for locals and vacationers alike.
The idyllic, sunny riverside landscape invites children to build canals, send ships out to sea, and search for coveted, rare gold nuggets. Meanwhile, sunbathers will find everything they could want in the specially designed sunbathing area; plus, the barbecue area with its rustic grill can be used to feed hungry gold hunters with the delicious food they’ve brought along.
Important: You must bring your ownfood , charcoal, and firewood. You can pick up the key for the grill at the Sillian Information Office for a deposit of 50.00 euros—which will be refunded if you leave the grill area in good condition.
A fun scavenger hunt awaits along the Waldwichtelweg. The goal is to track down a lost treasure together with Willi Wichtel—to do so, you’ll need to solve little puzzles and complete tasks at various stations. From finding a solution word to searching for gold nuggets in the sand pit to small tests of courage, there’s something for everyone. Anyone who successfully completes the treasure hunt will receive a little surprise as they leave the park.
The Autodrom is one of the most popular attractions for young visitors to Wichtelpark. Easy-to-drive mini-cars invite kids to “crash” and maneuver safely—it’s guaranteed to be a blast!
For those little hunger pangs (and thirst) in between, the Wichtelwirt is here to help. Snacks like hot dogs, fries, soft-serve ice cream, drinks, and more are waiting to refuel adventurers.
With the exception of the high ropes course and the barbecue grill, all attractions are includedin the Wichtelpark admission price.
