Abfaltersbach

Enjoy your holiday in the Pustertal Valley

Framed by the Villgrater mountains and the Lienz DolomitesAbfaltersbach is located in the southwest of the district of Lienz in the Pustertal Valley in Osttirol. Apart from the valley area, the settlement area of the 646-souls-community is spread around the valley area, especially on the sunny slopes of the Villgrater mountains. Next to the main village, Abfaltersbach comprises the hamlets of Abfaltern, Einöd and Geselhaus. Thanks to a bypass, the centre is peaceful and quiet; here you can really take a break from everyday life offside the tourist trails. The village itself inspires with some sacral buildings that make a significant aspect of Abfaltersbach’s beautiful overall appearance. Next to the modern parish church of St. Andrew, one of these buildings is a Lourdes chapel, which has been in Geselhaus since 1905.

Thanks to its convenient location, Abfaltersbach provides quick and easy access to nearby leisure destinations all year round, and the district capital of Lienz is just a short drive away. During the summer months, numerous varied mountain and hiking tours can be tackled in the surroundings of Abfaltersbach. If you want to take it a bit easier and recover from everyday life, the "Aigner Badl" is perfect for you. The "Badl" - a Tyrolean country spa - is truly a hidden gem and a popular meeting point for locals and holiday guests, as well as for cyclists from the nearby Drau Cycle Path. A leisurely stroll along the banks of the Drava is worthwhile all through the year, anyway.

In winter, the beautiful snowy landscape and the many leisure opportunities, such as snowshoe or winter hikes are a good reason to come here.

Weather and Webcam in Abfaltersbach

Forecast:

High pressure is falling now and the deep area of low pressure over the North Atlantic will extend to Central Europe. However, low pressure does not necessarily mean bad weather, especially here in the Alpine region. Foehn winds will pick up and be able to keep away any precipitation. They will even bring us occasional sunny spells.

Tendency:

The northerly airflow over Europe is increasing in intensity and will become stormy. The areas of precipitation that are embedded in this airflow will however stay north of our region. We will therefore keep this dry mixture of sunshine and clouds.
