You start your hike on the Venediger Höhenweg trail towards the Bonn-Matreier Hut. After the second side valley, keep an eye out for the left-hand side: this is where you turn off and hike up through the cirque to the very scree-covered Eichhamscharte at the end of the valley. From here on, it becomes alpine terrain – you’ll make your way up over rock and along exposed ridges. The real crux comes just before the summit cross: it gets extremely narrow and steep here! Caution: there is a significant risk of rockfall in this area. Due to the exposure, you must tackle this section with a rope and a helmet.
