Easy hike in the winter paradise Matreier Tauernhaus
This family hike starts at the Matreier Tauernhaus and first leads in the direction of Gschlößtal. Under the thick ice, you can hear the gurgling and gentle rushing of the stream. At midday, the gentle winter sun makes this area glisten.

The winter hiking trail begins shortly after the Matreier Tauernhaus. After the bridge over the Tauernbach stream, follow the groomed path on the crest of the dam to the Wohlgemuthsalmen. The gentle tread in the snow and the quiet murmur of the stream beneath the ice floes create a peaceful, contemplative atmosphere. After the bridge, the view opens up to the idyllic alpine pastures and the way back is via the opposite side of the stream.
Winter hiking in the Tauern community
The Hinteraue circular hiking trail starts at the Kreuzbühel parking lot and leads along a dirt track to the "Hinteraue" district. This extensive area with its flat, large fields is ideal for a winter hike with the family.
