Umbal Falls Nature Trail

In the Umbaltal, with the Isel’s imposing cascading waterfalls, the landscape-shaping power and essence of a glacial stream are evident in a way rarely seen in any other valley of the Hohe Tauern.
The smooth, polished green rock of the riverbed, with its eroded hollows, gives a sense of the power of the flowing water. The Umbal Falls Nature Trail invites you on a journey of discovery and offers spectacular views of the Isel cataracts. Start this easy hike right at the parking lot in Ströden. After 30 minutes, you’ll already catch sight of the Islitzeralm.

Whether you’re a visitor or a local, the electric “Umbal Shuttle” takes you to the Umbal Falls in an eco-friendly, quiet, and modern way. Enjoy the ride daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.!
