Summer in Kals offers much more than just classic mountain sports: Surrounded by unspoiled nature, there are many ways to explore the area —peacefully and with focus while angling and fishing in clear streams, with concentration and precision while archery shooting on the 3D course, or actively and energetically while running on varied trails between the valley floor and alpine terrain. Kals invites you to experience summer on the move—and to truly find yourself in the process.

Running

Whether it’s marathon training, mountain running, or trail running—the diverse running routes make any kind of training possible. No wonder the Kenyan run2gether team and the national mountain running team have their summer training base here—and you can benefit from it yourself as part of a run2gether high-altitude running week .

 

  • 500-meter interval course around the Goldried reservoir at 2,230 meters above sea level.
  • 1,000-meter speed and barefoot running course near the Taurerwirt at 1,500 meters above sea level

 

The following elevation ranges with running routes are available for runners of all skill levels:

  • 700m to 850m above sea level along the Iseltal Bike Trail for extended marathon training runs
  • 1,300 m to 1,500 m from Kals-Lesach to Kals-Taurer; flat and gently undulating running routes for varied training, with easy-to-run inclines ideally suited for beginners and advanced runners. Barefoot and speed course in Kals-Taurer with precisely measured and signposted 1,000m
  • 1,600 m to 1,800 m along the Dorfertal Valley in an ideal high-altitude training location in the heart of the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern; suitable for speed workouts as well as endurance runs
  • 2,000 m to 2,400 m in the area around the Kals-Matreier-Törl House, with the Adler Lounge mountain station as an ideal starting point. Running routes along scenic trails and a unique interval course around the Goldried reservoir
