"Queen of the Pustertal"

Driving from Lienz toward Sillian, you’ll come across Heinfels Castle—the “Queen of the Pustertal”—perched on a hill in the municipality of Heinfels. It has undergone extensive restoration in recent years and has been open to the public since 2020. Here, history—in the form of walls and towers from a bygone era—meets modern architecture, transforming the castle grounds into a unique walking tour. A particular highlight is the ceiling design in the castle chapel.
