The Hochschoberhütte is located on the Nassfeld in the upper Leibnitztal. It is an ideal base for Tirol's most beautiful viewpoint, the 3242 m high Hochschober, which gives its name to the Schober group. Large parts of the Schober group are located in the Hohe Tauern National Park.

The Schober group is a very unspoiled mountain landscape without disruptive environmental influences such as roads or ski areas, thus remaining reserved for climbers and hikers.
