Take a deep breath. You feel alive and are right in the midst of it. Amidst a unique nature landscape with unlimited skiing enjoyment on over 400 km of cross-country skiing slopes. Whether you are a beginner or a professional, there is something for everyone.
With a biathlon centre of a World Cup standard, cross-country pistes with snow cannons from mid-November – often even sooner – and 60 kilometres of trails, Obertilliach is among the hotspots of the cross-country skiing scene. Even the Norwegian biathlete Ole Einar Bjorndalen has taken up residency in Obertilliach to benefit from the conditions.
On cross-country skiing tours through Osttirol’s wonderful mountain landscape, you can also discover plenty more: the originality and hospitality of the people, the delicacies of the regional cuisine as well as various surprises afforded by nature.
Everything started 50 years ago when the good idea emerged and people ventured to realise it. Since then, always on the 3rd weekend in January, a whole throng of enthusiasts gathers, lending Osttirol an international charm. 30 nations and more than 2500 participants gather on that weekend and race according to the motto “Everyone as a victor against themselves”.
