From the Gasthaus Schöne Aussicht, a toll road leads up to the Roaner Alm. After parking your car, follow the signs towards Strasskopf. After about 10 minutes of walking, you will see the Winklerner Alm on the right-hand side. Continue across steep meadow slopes towards the summit. It is always worth taking a short break to let your gaze wander over the surrounding peaks. After about 500 metres in altitude, you reach the summit cross. From there, enjoy a fantastic view of the Debanttal in the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern, the Lienzer Dolomiten and the Kreuzeckgruppe. Once your stomach starts growling and your energy stores need refilling, a stop at the Roaner Alm after the descent is well worth it. The hut is known far beyond the borders of East Tyrol for its excellent cuisine. Grilled swordfish, sea bream and prawns, and of course lobster. Alongside East Tyrolean delicacies such as Schlipfkrapfen or Tiroler Knödel. The menu at the Roaner Alm reads like a journey through Alpe-Adria cuisine, and all this at 1,900 m above sea level.
