Iseltrail Photo Challenge 2025: Public Voting Begins—Have Your Say Now!

The camera was her eye; the Iseltrail was her stage

The Osttirol Tourism Association has issued an initial positive assessment of the 2025 Iseltrail Photo Challenge: By the submission deadline on July 15, over 140 impressive photos had been submitted by amateur and professional photographers from Austria and abroad—a strong indication of the great interest in the unique natural scenery along the Iseltrail.

Decide with a panel of experts

Through July 31, 2025, it’s now the public’s turn: Visitors can submit their ratings at osttirol.com/Iseltrail-fotochallenge. Anyone interested can have a say and vote for their favorite photos in two categories:

  • Fine Art Nature Photography: Masterful nature photographs focusing on water, forests, mountains, animals, plants, macro, and abstraction
  • Iseltrail Vacation Moments: Creative, personal, and original snapshots capturing experiences along the Iseltrail—smartphone photos were also expressly encouraged

The three highest-rated photos in each category will receive attractive prizes. In parallel with the public voting, a panel of experts will evaluate the submissions and select their favorites.

Open-Air Exhibition at Johannesplatz in Lienz

A selection of the best photos will be presented starting in August 2025 in a large-scale open-air exhibition at Johannesplatz in Lienz —a vibrant testament to the diversity, beauty, and emotional depth of the Iseltrail.

“The submitted photos are far more than mere nature shots—they tell stories, capture moods, and show just how inspiring the Iseltrail is for nature and photography enthusiasts. Now we look forward to hearing from the public so we can work with the community to select the winning photos,” says Franz Theurl, chairman of the Osttirol Tourist Board.

The Year of the Isel

The Iseltrail Photo Challenge will be a centerpiece of the “Year of the Isel” in the summer of 2025, during which Osttirol will be putting its vibrant glacial river, its biodiversity, and its scenic beauty in the spotlight.
