Tour of the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern

The Großglockner Hochalpenstraße takes you right through the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. Along the road, visitors can enjoy a rich variety of flora and fauna, including the popular marmots. From Franz-Josefs-Höhe, you can take the glacier cable car to the Pasterze, Austria’s largest glacier. The journey continues over the Hochtor and the Fuschertörl to Bruck an der Glocknerstraße, and then via Mittersill and the Felbertauern Road back to Osttirol.

Accommodation options:

Franz-Josefs-Höhe: Photo stop, ride on the glacier cable car to the Pasterze.
Wilhelm Swarovski Observation Station: This attraction is located above the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe. Here, you can observe not only the wildlife but also the many mountaineers climbing the Großglockner.
Hochtor: The summit of the pass and the state border between Carinthia and Salzburg.

Fuschertörl: A particularly beautiful viewpoint along the Panorama Road.
Edelweißspitze: Panoramic views of over 30 three-thousand-meter peaks; “Alpine Naturschau” museum.

Ferleiten: Visit to the Ferleiten Wildlife Park
Mittersill: National Park Worlds with a 360° panoramic cinema
