Olala: 36th street theatre festival

The charming street art and circus festival Olala has developed over the past three decades into one of the most sought-after festivals of its kind in Europe. Around 40 artist groups from 15 countries transform public spaces into a cultural arena in the open air, making everyday life a special experience for locals and visitors alike.

With its innovative blend of art, theater, and contemporary circus, Olala presents extraordinary performances that surprise, move, and provoke thought. During the festival week in July, Lienz shows its most colorful side and offers productions that one would expect more in international metropolises than in a small town in the Tyrolean mountains.

Since its inception, Olala has stood for high artistic quality and intergenerational entertainment. The festival consciously distances itself from superficial nonsense and instead focuses on demanding, emotional and sustainable cultural experiences. With around 40.000 visitors from Austria and across Europe, Olala is one of the region's most significant cultural events and enjoys great media attention.
