Music from the Christmas Oratorio by J.S. Bach

“Rejoice, delight!” – When the first notes of Johann Sebastian Bach's famous Christmas Oratorio are heard, the Christmas festival approaches noticeably. The Ensemble Essenza invites you to a special encounter with this masterpiece and performs all six parts of Bach's great Christmas music.

The reduction to an intimate chamber music setting with original instruments opens up new perspectives on one of the most significant works in music history. Finest musical structures, touching timbres, and the emotional depth of the composition come to the forefront. The soloists also take on the choir parts, creating an extraordinary transparency and immediacy of sound: The essence of the music remains preserved, and everything gains intensity.

A special experience also awaits the audience: For selected chorales, the sheet music will be provided. Everyone who loves to sing is invited to join in and become part of the musical event. In this way, a lively dialogue arises between the stage and the listeners, making the community and the message of the Christmas Oratorio particularly palpable.

An evening full of warmth, reflection, and anticipation for Christmas.
