Großes Degenhorn 2849 metres

Travel on the 6-seater gondola from the valley floor to the Brunnalm intermediate station (2055 metres). Transfer now to the second section of the 3-seater chairlift, the Mooserberg lift. The hike now begins. Follow the tracks for route No. 2, on the southern flanks of the Große Leppleskofel, past the Hochleitenspitze to the flat saddle of the Ochsenlenke (2744 metres). For expert mountaineers there is a climbing ridge from here, which, after a lovely climbing tour (level 3-4), ends at the Großes Degenhorn. However, a much easier route proceeds initially on a well-marked path in a south-westerly direction, then, going downhill leaving the wind gap, direct to Degenhornsee. Follow the red-white signposts, No. 19, and there is a moderate climb to the Kleines Degenhorn (2849 metres). Continue to the summit via the somewhat easy eastern ridge.

Starting point: 6-seater Brunnalm gondola
Ascent time: around 4.5 hours
