Gschlößtal

At the foot of the Großvenediger you will find the acknowledged beautiful valley of the eastern Alp, the Gschlösstal. 

Want pure East Tyrol? Without beating about the bush, simply reduced to the fundamental, to the essence you might say? East Tyrol, that is mountain Tyrol, as it is called in many places. Almost nowhere else is this statement more, that East Tyrol is mountain Tyrol, than in Innergschlöss. Innergschlöss is an alpine settlement in Gschlösstal. It is situated at 1689 metres altitude, just before head of the Tauerntal valley and is considered by many as the most beautiful valley head in the East Alps. It is superb when you get to hike from alpine inn to alpine inn here. Gasthaus Venedigerhaus is there waiting to serve its guests and you won’t have to search for long for many other alpine inns. The Gschlösstal is not just lovely, it is also a perfect starting point. There are a few tour destinations in particular, for instance the Innergschlöss glacier exhibition trail, which quite plainly shows just how gigantic, fantastic and just how speechless the natural surroundings can render you when it is revealed at its loveliest. The ascent to the Alten and Neuen Prager Hütte, and the ascent to St. Pöltner Hütte offer that bit more. At every step and with every view into Gschlösstal it becomes clear that East Tyrol really is genuinely mountain Tyrol.
