Sebastian Rieger was born in the little mountain village of St. Veit in Defereggen in 1867 and would later become well-known as pastor and writer, under the synonym Reimmichl. Reimmichlbrunnen on the village square in front of the local church was to honour him. The life-size bronze sculpture of the poet was created by sculptor Georg Planer, another of the town’s famous sons. The ‘Reimmichl garden’ is soon to be set up in the town, a place where the great local poet’s work will be especially in evidence.
