The high plateau at the Staller Sattel captivates visitors with both its impressive scenery and its blooming alpine roses. This mountain pass in the Eastern Alps connects the Defereggental with the Antholz Valley in neighboring Italy. The Obersee, nestled between the striking mountains, invites you to take a short walk before continuing on your way.
Returning through the Defereggental Valley, the route leads to Kals am Großglockner. Following the Kalser Glocknerstraße, you’ll eventually reach the Ködnitztal Valley.
Thanks to the construction of the “Glocknerwinkl” visitor center, the national park’s “Big Five”—the bearded vulture, the golden eagle, the marmot, the chamois, and the ibex—are showcased here. But one “king” is also shown in the best light: from a simple room with a large glass front, the Großglockner reveals itself, just as if you were looking into a store window.
