From the car park Großdorf, it takes about 1.5 hours to reach the middle station of the mountain railway. There you take the path in the direction of Kals-Matreier-Törl. 50 metres below the ridge, you follow the ascent in a northerly direction until the entrance to the via ferrata appears shortly above the Blauspitz panorama restaurant. The via ferrata is very difficult with C and C/D passages. The descent is via the normal route (Weißen Knopf and Ganotzkogel) back to the middle station.
