Bike-Biathlon

The Bikeathlon is a team cycling race in relay mode with a shooting component (small caliber). Teams consisting of 3 people compete for a place in the next round and ultimately for the overall victory.

Attention – all teams are allowed to start at least twice!

The awards ceremony and biker party will take place afterwards in the multipurpose hall of the biathlon center. Spectators will have the opportunity to follow the competition from there. Exciting prizes await the three top-placed teams!

The most important information about the competition

• Start of the event: 4:30 PM
• Minimum age for participants: 16 years
• Entry fee is € 30,- per team (Late entry fee on race day: € 15,- )
• Registration deadline is December 26, 2024 (12:00 PM)
• The number of participants is limited to 32 teams – so register promptly!
• Bikes, rifles, and helmets will be provided by the Bike Club
• There is a mandatory helmet rule!
• The Bike Club assumes no liability
• The focus of this competition should primarily be on fun!

Format

• The entire bikeathlon takes place in tournament mode. This means that three teams of three people compete against each other in a relay race.
• “Le Mans start,” first come, first served. From the starting line, sprint to the bikes and continue. Which bike is taken is irrelevant.
• Each team member must go to the shooting range once per round before passing the baton to the next team member. The shooting process is explained in more detail in the next paragraph.
• In each preliminary round, initially 4 teams compete against each other, where:
  • The two winners of each round advance directly to the semifinals.
  • The losers will face losers from other preliminary rounds in a tiebreaker round, with only one team from each round advancing to the semifinals.
• In the semifinal rounds, only the group winner advances to the grand finale!
• The preliminary round assignments and promotion criteria will be finalized on the competition day based on the number of participants.

Shooting

• For safety reasons, there will be an instruction on the rifle for all participants after registration. This will be followed by a practice session.
• Shooting will be done with small caliber rifles. The rifles for the race are not carried on the bike but are located at the shooting range during the ride.
• Shooting is done in a prone position, with five aimed shots to be taken. Shooting errors must be corrected in the form of a penalty lap.

Aftershow Party

• Begins after the awards ceremony
• Food and drinks will be provided
• Shuttle service from the biathlon center to Obertilliach (12:00 AM – 3:00 AM)
• Entry is free!
