Anyone coming to Osttirol for some spring skiing can enjoy pristine white firn slopes of all difficulty levels until Easter— without long lines at the lifts or crowds on the runs. On top of that, Osttirol stands out for its family-friendly charm away from the mass-market ski resorts.
Our seven ski resorts are spacious and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for every kind of skiing adventure—yet they couldn’t be more different from one another. At the St. Jakob im Defereggental Ski Center, for example, Osttirol’s highest cable car system takes winter sports enthusiasts up to 2,683 meters above sea level in just a few minutes. In Lienz, skiers can enjoy over 20 kilometers of slopes in the Zettersfeld ski area.
The Sillian-Hochpustertal Ski Center is located in the heart of the Dolomites. There, leisure skiers, families, freeriders, and snowboarders will find a perfect blend of Austrian slope quality and Italian flair. An insider tip for families is the Golzentipp ski area in Obertilliach, which, at 1,450 meters above sea level, is the highest-altitude town in Osttirol’s Gailtal Valley. The youngest children can experience their first skiing fun at the new Himbeergoll Kids’ Area.
East Tyrol’s largest ski resort is the Großglockner Resort Kals-Matrei. This winter sports mecca is known for its state-of-the-art lifts and diverse range of runs. Winter sports enthusiasts will also be delighted by the new, fully snow-covered run down to Matrei in Osttirol.
Our tip: The SkiHit Osttirol ski pass is valid in 7 ski resorts in Osttirol and Carinthia!
