The long-time chair of RollOn Austria, author, and moderator shows in her presentation how people can find leeway even under difficult conditions.
On Tuesday, June 23, Loacker CEO Tinneke Gies welcomes Marianne Hengl to a lecture that goes far beyond the topic of inclusion as part of the Club of Innovators. Marianne Hengl has been, among other things, the chair of RollOn Austria since 1989, which aims to represent the concerns and interests of people with physical and multiple disabilities. "Disabled people have to put themselves on their back wheels to achieve their goals," she says.
The native of Salzburg moderates the format "Resilient People" on ORF Radio Tirol, which is dedicated to stories and biographies meant to inspire courage. Marianne Hengl belongs to that category of resilient people who have taken their lives into their own hands. She consistently follows her life motto: “Never let yourself get knocked down, get up again, fix your crown, and keep going.” Marianne Hengl uses a wheelchair and relies on support in her daily life.
At the same time, she has been leading projects and initiatives for decades, moderating her own formats on TV and radio, writing books, and managing employees. Setbacks and prejudices have never discouraged her; rather, they have motivated her to forge her own path and to advocate for respectful coexistence. In her lectures, Marianne Hengl does not primarily focus on the categories of disability and non-disability. She does not talk about deficits, but about attitude. About setbacks, personal responsibility, and the question of how people can find creative space even under difficult conditions. She combines personal experiences with humor, clarity, and a keen eye for what strengthens and connects people rather than divides them.
