It is late summer. In the living room of the Fetzer family, the Christmas tree still stands, clinging for dear life to a few needles.
The area around the Christmas tree has been declared a restricted zone by Emil, because 30 liters of beer are at stake.

And amid the arguments over the tree, suspicion turns to certainty that the silver wedding is just around the corner.
Emil panics when Betty announces the arrival of the inheritance aunt Edith from America.
Betty has portrayed her family life in her letters to the aunt just as she has always dreamed it to be.

Now good advice is expensive; one definitely does not want to be disinherited. The silver wedding will take place exactly as Betty has always dreamed it to be.
