Neue Philharmonie München

The New Philharmonic Munich (NPhM) is an international symphony orchestra composed of music students.
The NPhM regularly performs in the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residence and at numerous guest concerts
both in Germany and abroad. In 2025, the NPhM celebrated its 20th anniversary. Musically, the
NPhM is supported by members of the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, the Bavarian State Orchestra
as well as experienced educators from renowned music universities in Germany and Europe.


Fuad Ibrahimov, born in 1982 in Azerbaijan, was a junior student in the field of viola at the Music University in
Baku. After further studies in conducting at the Cologne University of Music, he performed with renowned
orchestras in Germany, Europe, and Asia. Since 2014, he has been the director of the State Symphony Orchestra of Azerbaijan
and chief conductor of the New Philharmonic Munich as well as the Baku Chamber Orchestra. In 2018,
he won the Evgeny Svetlanov International Conducting Competition in Paris.


Sophia Herbig is a violinist from Munich. Her orchestral activities have led her to ensembles
such as the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber
Orchestra, and Utopia. Since October 2019, she has been engaged as the leader of the 2nd violins in the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg
and is actively involved in concert activity as a chamber musician. Additionally, she teaches as a
lecturer for violin at the University of Mozarteum Innsbruck.


The cellist Katja Deutsch is studying for her master's degree with Jean-Guihen Queyras at the Freiburg University of Music.
She regularly plays in ensembles such as the Symphony Orchestra of the Bavarian Radio, the Mozarteum Orchestra, and Spira Mirbalis. Besides her great passion for orchestral playing, she has devoted
herself in recent years to chamber music and founded the piano trio "Trio Vivo" in 2023 with fellow students.
She has also performed solo in recent years, both nationally and internationally, with ensembles such as the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic, the Wratislavia Chamber Orchestra, and the New
Philharmonic Munich.


Henriette Zahn is a pianist with a focus on song interpretation, chamber music, and performance. Her passion
is for developing contemporary formats in the song genre, for which she also founded the NORDLIED Festival in
Hamburg. Chamber music performances have taken Henriette to the Salzburg Festival,
the Elbphilharmonie, and the Munich Herkulessaal. She arranges song evenings with artists including Julian Prégardien,
Sönke Tams Freier, Tareq Nazmi, Pia Davila, Ilker Arcayürek, and Alexandra Ionis. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor
for rehearsal piano at UdK Berlin.
