The gateway to Großvenediger
The hut of the Austrian Tourist Club (short ÖTK) was built in 1887 and is one of the oldest and highest in the Eastern Alps. It was named after the famous painter "Franz von Defregger." The shortest access from the hut leads over the "Rainerkees" to Großvenediger 3,657 m. Due to the crevasse-rich glacier, hiring a mountain guide is highly recommended.
