Apple poppy seed cake

Ingredients for 12 to 16 pieces:

6 egg yolks
250 g sugar
60 g honey
185 g poppy seeds


185 g nuts, grated
3 large apples, cut into small cubes
1 tsp. cinnamon
6 egg whites

1 pinch salt
60 g flour
1 tsp. baking powder
icing sugar for sprinkling



Beat egg yolks with sugar and honey until foamy. Stir in poppy seeds, nuts, apple cubes and cinnamon. Beat the egg whites and salt to a beaten egg white and fold into the batter with the flour and baking powder. Put the mixture on a prepared cake tray and bake in the preheated oven at 160 °C for about 40 minutes.
