You want to experience the Lesachtal in winter at its most beautiful, and with the Alpine School Lesachtal and its director Helmut Ortner, this is possible.
Helmut turned his hobbies into a profession, and besides first ascents and summits up to the eighth degree of difficulty, he also climbed the 8463 m
high Makalu and traversed the north face of the 8586 m high Kanchenjunga.
Ski tours: Off-piste skiing is beautiful, even more beautiful when you have made the ascent under your own power. The valley is deeply snow-covered in winter, and tours are possible from December to mid-April. Snowshoe hiking: You can also experience the mountains in winter. With modern lightweight snowshoes, you can get almost anywhere in winter. The Gailtal Alps with their gentle slopes offer particularly ideal beginner terrain. Helmut made a job out of his hobbies. Besides first ascents and accesses till level 8 he also climbed on 8463 m high Makalu and climbed across the north wall of 8585 m high Kangchendzönga. Ski-tours: Skiing in deep snow is beautiful but it gets more beautiful when you made the ascent all by yourself. The valley is deeply snow covered in winter and tours are possible from December to mid-April. Snowshoe hikes: You can explore mountains also in wintertime.
