Schleinitz via ferrata route

The Schleinitz provides a summit tour to an impressive mountain peak which is very much recommended, is scenically charming throughout and thanks to the Zettersfeld ski lift facilities, can be conveniently tackled as a day tour coming north from Lienz.

Description

The Schleinitz – the final foothill of the Schober group – is a famous mountain in Lienz. The via ferrata route via the north-east ridge is rewarding (in spite of the lengthy ascent and descent), providing superb views to the three-thousand metre mountains in the Schober group, to the Lienz Dolomites and far beyond. During both the ascent and the descent you pass the Neualpl Lakes, a dreamy beauty spot in the Hohe Tauern National Park. The path is not entirely secured with steel cables (only on the steepest rocky passages), while in the easier sections of terrain surefootedness is required in places.
