Biking in East Tyrol: Unlimited bike fun between the Großglockner and the Dolomites

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving.” We are almost tempted to say that Albert Einstein was describing cycling in East Tyrol. One thing is certain – a summer holiday in our lovely state will re-balance you - with or without a bike.

Exploring the Lienz Becken by bike is unique. It is as if the biggest valley floor in Tyrol was made for cycle touring with all the family. It wasn’t invented here of course, yet is very much cherished, on the Drauradweg and the Iselradweg, the loveliest cycle trails in Europe. But that is not all.

East Tyrol has unforgettable routes for road riders too - the tour to the Hochtörl on the Großglockner certainly is the pièce de résistance. A similar paradise is accessible to mountain bikers in East Tyrol. Although almost every alpine lodge is accessible by mountain bike, East Tyrol has dozens of mountain bike routes and riding routes which range from easy to selective. Cycling in East Tyrol – because it’s about balance.
