In the Tyrolean Lesachtal, agriculture has still not lost its importance. To a large extent, the beautiful landscapes and the unique appearance of this valley are still maintained by the farmers. This pays off, as the high valley has always been one of the most beautiful in Europe and was voted "Landscape of the Year" by the International Friends of Nature, as well as the "Environmentally friendliest valley in Europe" by the European press. The municipality of Untertilliach consists of several populated hamlets, all surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes and unique mountain scenery.
The beautifully located village is a perfect holiday destination for individual tourists. If you want to relax far away from everyday hustle and bustle, you are perfectly right here in Untertilliach. The picturesque village centre invites to relaxing walks, on which the sacral buildings and rustic farmhouses can be viewed. Giant spruce trees, as they are known for example from Canada and North America, tower around the village.
In summer, a hike on one of the many hiking trails is just as worthwhile as a tour by mountain bike. The Gailtal High Route and the Carnic High Route pass by in close proximity to Obertilliach. Especially the Carnic Ridge provides many varied tour destinations in unique natural settings.
the winter months, the Grenzland (border land) trail, which leads through the valley to Kartitsch, makes cross-country skiers’ hearts beat faster in the truest sense. Of course, Untertilliach is also perfect for ski fans as e.g. the ski resort of Golzentipp is just a few minutes away.
An extension of the Azores High will determine our weather conditions over the weekend. At the same time, even warmer air will be directed from the Mediterranean region to the Alps. We will have picture-perfect weather from morning to night. There will be hardly any clouds in the sky, if any at all. After a cool autumn morning, it will become warm during the day, reminiscent of late summer. The maximum temperatures in the Lienz area will reach around 27/28 degrees.
