The forest nature trail in the district of Zedlach takes you through a magical forest, which shelters the oldest larch trees in Tyrol. The oldest ones are over 500 years old and have a trunk circumference of up to seven metres. Display boards explain the forest habitat and the development of larch trees. When the larch woods turn golden yellow in the autumn, they reach their most beautiful form. Hikes through this “paradise” in spring and summer also prove to be a special experience. The Zedlacher Paradies nature trail above Matrei in Osttirol tells nature lovers everything they need to know about the forest and its animals. And one of the oversized wrought-iron animals, which were created by the local artist and metalsmith Erich Trost especially for this theme hike, can be found hidden under the mighty larch trees.
