Ice-skating

Indeed, we do of course have this – that is, ice rinks and ice areas in East Tyrol, where you get to enjoy another winter sport which you can do in East Tyrol – ice-skating. Anyone who wants to feel like an ice prince or an ice princess, or even like a beautiful winter fairy, can test their ice-skating skills here. You get a magnificent feeling of lightness when you glide across the many ice rinks. What about the artificial Pustertalerstraße rink in Lienz? Or maybe you would prefer to head to a lake in East Tyrol? Then Tristacher See is certainly the first and foremost venue.

Curling

Let’s not forget another sport which is practiced on the ice - curling! Curling is actually an old sport, which must even be regarded as a tradition. This sport has gained currency in regions which have water bodies which freeze over and can only be played in the winter. Even today you can still go curling in several places in East Tyrol. So you see, you will never ever get bored during the winter in East Tyrol. One or another ice rink in the middle of Außervillgraten or in Sillian even has the distinct advantage of having a dreamy panorama. Even as a beginner you should venture out on to the ice, just to indulge in a bit of winter, superb scenery and some of that East Tyrolean sunshine.
