Certified family ski resorts

Famlily skiing in Osttirol

Being taken care of all-round is the catchphrase for a perfect family holiday on the ski slopes. Parents do not need to fret because the organisation of the holiday is playfully easy. Everywhere there are pistes suitable for beginners, child-friendly ski schools, all-round childminding and plenty of attractions such as snowtubing or snow carousels. There will therefore not be a dull moment for sure! Furthermore, lifts and cable cars have special family tariffs and often also children’s tariffs that make the shared ski adventure affordable. Optimal conditions therefore for all ages. In cooperation with the cable cars, the ski schools and the ski rental services, a range of quality criteria have been established by Tirol Werbung. The following ski resorts are among the family ski resorts certified by Tirol Werbung due to the fulfilment of these criteria.

Skizentrum Sillian Hochpustertal - ski mountains for the little ones

The Sillian Hochpustertal Ski Centre attracts visitors with 22 perfectly groomedkilometres of pistes throughout the season. The comfortable 6-seater bubble chairlift with heated seats will take you to the summit of the 2400 metres high Thurntaler. While parents ride on black, red and blue pistes, ambitious teenagers test their limits in the “Yellowsnow” snow park. Young skiers, on the other hand, feel at home in the Kinderland with their own practice lift and magic carpet and are well looked after in the two ski children's schools. A special highlight: the long valley run. If you start from the top, you can enjoy a dreamlike descent with a difference in altitude of more than 1200 metres.

Family and enjoyment are very important in the Hochpustertal Ski Centre. Anyone who climbs Sillian's local mountain for the second time is already familiar.

Parents do not have to worry about their kids — even if they stop for a snack on the Thurntaler Rast with the beautiful sun terrace and enjoy traditional dishes and homemade pastries and the unique view of the Carnic Alps and the Villgrater mountains.

Skizentrum Sillian Hochpustertal

Lienzer Bergbahnen - Family skiing with a Dolomite panorama

More and more families are discovering the advantages of spending their skiing holidays in a lively town. Excellent restaurants, fancy eateries and lovingly run shops invite you to discover the quaint Osttirol as well as the trendy. Particularly sunny is the south-facing Zettersfeld ski area in Lienz, whose slopes are almost entirely suitable for families. At an altitude of up to 2,278 metres, you can enjoy a fantastic view over the Dolomites. Parents meet for a drink on the terraces of the ski huts, and the joyful shouting of the youngsters on the slopes can be heard from the ski kindergarten. The 400 m long fun slope is popular with children, with waves, curves, jumps, tunnels - 16 elements ensure that the kids never get bored.

Ambitious skiing families meet at the Hochstein - and swear by the seven-kilometre-long downhill run that leads from almost 2000 metres above sea level down to the town of Lienz at 668 metres above sea level. Obertilliacher Bergbahnen - race the night watchman

In the Golzentipp family skiing area in Obertilliach, children and beginners in particular will find excellent conditions.  The family ski day starts right at the front door, as the long valley runs lead directly to the centre of the village. From there, the new gondola lift leads up to the Golzentipp. The valley station is centrally located and families can strap on their skis at the slope and ski directly to the lift. Whoever goes up the local mountain of the Haufendorf for the second time is already known. Parents don't have to worry about their offspring getting lost - even if they stop in between, for example, at the Conny-Alm at the mountain station with its beautiful sun terrace and enjoy the unique view of the Carnic Alps, the Lienz Dolomites and the entire Lesach Valley in addition to traditional dishes.

New in winter 2022/23:

Children's area at the Himbeergoll lift, where the ski school meeting point is also located and parents can watch their children make their first turns in complete relaxation from the terrace of the Almfamily Hotel Scherer. A large access arch shows the entrance to the new children's adventure area in Obertilliach from afar. Wave run, row of jumps, figures as curve pointers, and much more. A separate children's track at the practice lift also improves access for the little ones and they are even faster on the mountain to ski the new Kinderland as often as possible. Ski depots can be found directly at the valley station of the gondola lift.
