Osttirol: a paradise for fly-fishers

A paradise for fly-fishing

When fly-fishers travel hundreds of kilometres from Italy, Switzerland and Holland to Osttirol just to go fishing, then it has to be something special. And they admit it – fly-fishers are inspired by the opportunities which the Isel and the little and big Drau offer. Osttirol has always been a paradise for anglers and fishermen. From the wild and romantic mountain streams through to the somewhat more calmer waters of the rivers heading out of the valley – 33 different fish species live in Osttirol.

Adventure fishing at 2500 metres altitude

Where else can you swing your fly rod at around 2500 metres altitude in the emerald green lakes? Quite a number of hoteliers and innkeepers have fishing areas, or rent some. A few hotels provide package deals for anglers. From a value-for-money guesthouse, to an exclusive hotel, including all the comforts and guides – Osttirol has something for everyone.
