...at the interactive map Osttirol!
We have something extra special for our Osttirol friends, fans, and guests: the memory-function on our website.
The journey is the destination? Not always in East Tyrol. Especially not if a route proceeds through a breath-taking, age-old cultural area. It would have to be described as almost sacrilege if you didn’t have a good look to the left and to the right. If a themed trail is an ‘intellectual focus’, then our themed trails are effectively deep, vivid and tangible opportunities to acquire specific knowledge. In ‘passing’, so to speak. With that the theme of the journey is the destination.
East Tyrol’s tourist office has always had a great deal to do with culture. Since culture comes from the ideas of ‘Work; nurturing; agriculture’ and these are the cultural ideas we want to impart to our guests. Like the steep slopes for instance which have been tended and worked on by mountain farmers for generations. Or the biggest interconnected Swiss pine forest in the East Alps – we are proud of our unspoilt natural surroundings, looking after it and with the cultural achievements of our forebears. Whether it is the ‘Apolloweg’ in Hopfgarten, which proceeds through the butterfly-filled meadows in the midst of the most extreme mountain farming area in East Tyrol, or the themed trail in St. Jakob im Defreggental, in the midst of the Hohe Tauern National Park. We want to bring inquisitive visitors closer to the unique flora and fauna of probably the loveliest, and at any rate, the most natural area in the East Alps.
