Enjoy cycling in the Hohe Tauern National Park

Even if you are now rubbing your eyes in disbelief - cycling and mountain biking are available and permitted in the Hohe Tauern National Park. We trust our visitors, their sense of connection to the natural surroundings and their positive attitude to the National Park. The cycle trail from Virgental to Matrei and the famous Umbal Falls is a gem among Austria’s cycle paths. Pure leisure riders, who aren’t quite as fit, are just as well catered for. They ride on the route out of the valley of the wild rushing glacial stream, along the Isel.

Steep, steeper; mountain bike

Mountain bikers pay tribute to the Hohe Tauern National Park on a selective tour. Since the most daredevil, technical and well-equipped riders have to tackle a route covering 1.5 kilometres and a whopping 100 (that’s one hundred!) metres altitude. It’s all about overcoming your ‘inner demons’.
