Großer Zunig 2776 m

Thanks to its central position the Großer Zunig is one of the loveliest viewing mountains in East Tyrol. Due to the considerable altitude difference of 1628 metres, scaling it is very strenuous. You should have a good level of fitness for this mountain tour. Starting from the Guggenberg car park, we hike along the forest trail to the Zunigalm snack station (1855 metres). A well signposted path takes is from the deep green Zunigsee, continuing via the flower-covered mountain ridge, steeply up to the Zunigscharte. The north-east ridge which proceeds to the summit is relatively steep, but easy to tackle. From the summit a wonderful panorama view to the Dolomites and the Tauern massif opens up.
