Information about the National Park Region Hohe Tauern East Tyrol!
We have something extra special for our Osttirol friends, fans, and guests: the memory-function on our website.
That a National Park has something quite special, seems apparent from the outset. However, when a National Park is in such a high position and is then so close to the skies – well, then it should also have a heavenly beauty, which in our case is verifiable. The Hohe Tauern National Park is certainly among the most extravagant and most beautiful holiday destinations anywhere in Austria. It also really does have ‘heavenly’ beauty.
ituated at the foot of the Großglockner , unforgettable magical moments arise in the National Park in the summer. A unique nature, hiking, cycling, and trekking paradise is waiting to enchant visitors. Whether it is climbing in Kals, mountain biking in Virgental, water sports on the Isel, mountaineering in the Glockner massif or hiking at a leisurely pace through the dreamy natural landscape – the range on offer here is just endless.
Water is a very special treasure in the National Park. Fed by glaciers, streams plunge into the valley here, overcoming dreamy cataracts like the Umbal Falls and merging in the Isel, the last, intact glacier river in the Alps. It is no wonder that there is so much to do at its banks in the summer. Families relax at the shallow, sandy bays, kayakers and rafters ride the waves and cyclists negotiate the steepest paths along the water.
