Steinrastl 2.184 m

An asphalt municipal road proceeds into the hamlet of Flatsch to ‘Fraktion’ Bergen. It is recommended that you leave your car and continue to hike via the forest trail (only people who are entitled to drive here may do so!). For the most part through a shaded forest this trail proceeds up to the mountain pastures which are mown in the summer months. Here too, like almost everywhere on sunny mountain slopes, lush blossoming flora thrives. From the Steinrastl, a relatively flat mountain ridge, the path proceeds for around 20 minutes on a slight slope across the Gumpedall, where you meet the "Gailtal high altitude trail". From here it is around 1 hour via a steep turf area up to the western peak of the Eggenkofel (only for those who have a head for heights!)

Starting point: Bergen/Flatsch
Walking time: around 2 - 2 ½ hours
Difficulty level: easy
