Description

The starting point for this walk is the parking place Europastraße at the valley station of the cable cars Matreier Goldried Bergbahnen. From there, first turn left past in direction center of Matrei in Osttirol. After the supermarket Spar, turn right onto the street Lienzer Straße and follow it to the former church Spitalkirche, which is also called chapel Josefskapelle. The interior of the church on the 1st floor can be reached via an outside staircase. The marble relief of the dying St. Joseph was created by the local artist Virgil Rainer. At the height of this sight, a path leads up to the right between houses no. 11 and no. 13. Then turn right onto the streets Dekan-Unterpranger-Weg and Lienzer Straße. In front of the building Lienzer Straße 17b, turn left up the path and go through the subway to reach the street Hildenweg. At the next junction, take the upper path and follow its course to house no. 28. Then a path leads through the forest past the small stream Mühlbach and the mill Trattner Mühle. Do not deviate from the path until you reach its end (at about the level of the bridge at the street Felbertauernstraße in the district Seblas). Then turn around. Initially, take the same path back. As soon as you reach the asphalt road, stay on it for a while. At the next junction (house Seblas no. 4), continue to the right. Follow the asphalt road without turning off. Before you reach the main road, the Felbertauernstraße, take the footpath to the right along the road. Finally, go through the subway, past the valley station of the cable cars Matreier Goldried Bergbahnen and the grocery store M-Preis. Now you have arrived the starting point.
