Prägraten on the Großvenediger lies on the North West edge of the Virgen Valley and belongs to the county of Tyrol. From here is the shortest and easiest way to climb the Großvenediger. Prägraten is situated South of the Alps and, with the “Venediger Group” and its glaciers to the North and the “Lasörling Group” to the South, it is an attractive starting point for mountaineers, hikers, climbers and ski tour skiers.
Virgen lies in the middle of the Virgen Valley and is often called the “Meran of East Tyrol” due to the amount of sunshine.
“Let your soul swing!” – nowhere else it is so easy as here.
Many walking paths offer the ramblers a high level of recuperation. If you wish to go higher you can hire a local mountain guide, who will take you up to 3.000 m and above. Our mountain huts invite you to rest in unique settings. Such an idyllic position in the vicinity of the National Park Hohe Tauern will be very difficult to find anywhere these days.
