The network of tracks begins South of Lienz with the “Amlacherrunde” and follows an easy track for 30 km towards Pustertal Valley and 35 km in direction of Drautal (Drau Valley). If you want to ski the 2 km artificially snowed and floodlit “Lavantrunde” you need to be an advanced skier. You can practise both classic and free techniques on every track.
The “Dolomitenlauf”
Cross-country skiing fans have been meeting for over 30 years every 3rd weekend in January. The race participants come from over 30 different countries and want to give a demonstration of their fit condition following the motto “everybody is his/her own winner”, without forgetting international friendships and contacts. The “Dolomitenlauf”, which is part of the “Worldloppet-Series”, is one of the main sporting events in the world. Most striking is the beginning of the East Tyrolean 3-days race, the so called “Dolomitensprint”, in the town centre of Lienz.
