The altitude, south of the main chain of the Alps, grants good snow conditions, which assure perfect sun flooded tracks till after Easter. Highlight is the Cross-country skiing- and Biathlon Centre in Obertilliach – training hall, competition place and Nordic Centre. It is also the starting point of the 60 km “Grenzlandloipe” – a borderline track that runs through the Tyrolean Gailtal (Gail Valley). Worth mentioning are also the 1.000 km prepared tracks between East and South Tyrol. Eight Cross-country skiing areas have joined together to the so called “Dolomiti Nordic Ski”, Europe’s largest Cross-country skiing carrousel. Snow guaranteed are in particular the 25 routes and the 150 km tracks in the National Park Region Hohe Tauern East Tyrol and in the Defereggen Valley.
