Welcome to the Lienz Dolomites

For the most part the Lienz Dolomites are counted as the part of what is known as the “Drauzug” range, which describes the Limestone Alps on the southern edge of Austria. The Lienz Dolomites extend for some 40 kilometres across East Tyrol, from the Kartitsch Saddle to the Gailberg Saddle near Oberdrauburg. Aside from these impressive facts and figures there is also a lot happening in the Lienz Dolomites.

A summer holiday in the Lienz Dolomites

What persists is the mountain backdrop of the Lienz Dolomites. What changes are the opportunities in spring, in summer, right through to autumn – the opportunity to explore the mountains and the beauty of the landscape with sturdy footwear. If you don’t have skis or cross-country skis beneath your feet, then you can get even closer to nature and experiencing the natural surroundings. As soon as you get up close to East Tyrol and the Lienz Dolomites, you feel at home and entrenched in this region. And you’ll sense a desire to come back again year after year. Numerous alpine inns for instance the Kalserhütte and the well-known Karlsbader Hütte make it easy to stop-off en route and to savour the originality of East Tyrolean hospitality.
