Welcome to Defereggen valley

You really don’t have to search for long to find Defereggen valley’s very special and unique properties. They are obvious – set in the midst of the Hohe Tauern National Park, nestling in and enclosed by the mountains of the Defereggen range, the Rieserferner group, the Lasörling group and the Schober group. Along with tempting landscape which is pivotal and defining, since it is the protective Hohe Tauern National Park that makes Defereggen valley one of the most unspoilt high mountain valleys in the Alps.

Defereggen valley – tranquillity and genuine purity

Defereggen valley with its towns of Hopfgarten, St. Jakob and St. Veit is one of the least populated areas in the Austrian Alps. This is something which you can see and sense in Defereggen valley at every turn, since hustle and bustle and big parties are something you find elsewhere. There is something quite different here that people looking for tranquillity and relaxation will come across – peace and quiet, an unspoilt state and genuine purity. You will barely find any other location in East Tyrol which is more authentic and more genuine. Nonetheless you needn’t worry, since time hasn’t really stood still in Defereggen despite all this purity.
