EAST TYROL HAS MOUNTAINS – IN THE TRUEST SENSE OF THE WORD

Around the “King of the Eastern Alps” – the Großglockner (3.798 m) – lies the largest reserve in the Alps, the National Park Hohe Tauern. Here 241 mountains of over 3.000 m in heights reach to the sky.

1.000 km of walking routs with more than 50 huts and refuge places as well as charming mountain villages, like “Prägraten on the Großvenediger” or “Kals on the Großglockner” are the paradise of the Alps, as they already were in ancient times.
Mountain climbers, nature- and mountain lovers along with the gentle rambler will find satisfaction in the National Park Hohe Tauern in East Tyrol. However, the ultimate experience is your personal first time climb to reach the summit of the Großglockner. This is included in the Großglockner package deal that takes two days and includes a qualified mountain guide. This path is over 200 years old and starts in Kals from “Lucknerhaus” (l.983 m) up to the “Stüdlhütte” and over the “Köditzkees” up to towards the summit. After a five to six hours climb you reach the highest mountain hut, known as the “Adlersruhe”, the “Erzherzog Johann Hütte”. After a nice long night’s rest and a hearty breakfast you can start to attack the highest point of this mountain’s summit. To stand on the top of the Großglockner is an indescribable feeling of achievement paired with the unrivalled view of the Alps before you, with some 250 mountains. It is indeed an overwhelming experience.
